Finally, after 15 years, the LRT opens—making travel to and from Yonge & Eglinton easier

The opening of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT marks an exciting new chapter for our neighbourhood. After years in the making, Line 5 Eglinton will officially begin service on February 8, 2026, offering customers a convenient and reliable new way to move across Eglinton Avenue and better connect Yonge & Eglinton to the rest of the city.
One of the biggest benefits of the new LRT is the underground tunnel connections inside Eglinton Station, allowing people to move comfortably through the area — especially during Toronto’s winter months, snow, and rainy days. Indoor pathways help commuters avoid icy sidewalks and harsh weather while providing easy access to shops and essential services, including Yonge + Eglinton Pharmacy.
According to TTC, rides will be free on Line 5 LRT service only on Sunday, February 8. Customers travelling on or connecting to other TTC routes will still need to pay their fare and be prepared to show Proof-of-Payment.
Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown LRT will launch as a phased “soft opening” and operate until 11 p.m. nightly, with the following hours:
Monday to Saturday: 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sundays: 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Holidays: 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Monday to Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sundays and holidays: Closed
